Typography

This is a book I bought about typography. I got this book from Nafa's book fair a few weeks ago. The reason why I bought this book is to improve on my typography skills as I have a really messy handwriting and typography is really important for my course, Graphic Communication. I like the layout of this book, I like how there are different fonts around the border of this book. I wonder if this book is helpful enough to improve on my typography? Could I possibly learn various types of fonts by reading this book?

Skill

This is a picture of a skating park at scape. I'm quite fascinated to watch people skating because I find it is an interesting skill. I especially love the graffiti art on the skating platform, I think it really brings out the mood in skating. When looking at people skating I wonder how long it took them to master this skill? Do they skate since young? Are they not afraid of getting serious injuries during skating?

Different

In this picture, I took photo of two seahorses swimming around in their aquarium. I have watched animal planet and national geographic very often and I heard that seahorses are unique. Naturally it is always the female that gives birth to babies, however it is different for seahorses. The male seahorses are the only creature where the male has a true reserved pregnancy. I wonder how is this possible? Why can't other male mammals other than the seahorse give birth too?

Proportion

This is a picture I took for today's blog, It seems to be a man yawning away and he seems to be wearing traditional Chinese clothing. However he's body proportion is really off as he have a huge upper body and really tiny legs. At first glance I did not notice his lower body because of the weird body proportion. I thought this sculpture was from his head to his waist.

Sticks

This is one of my very first assignment for drawing fundamentals. We were supposed to draw using various types of line by only using a satay stick. I find this assignment really fun to do, but it is hard too because of the very fine fur texture. However, I'm still satisfied with the outcome. If I could use a satay stick to draw this tiger out, is it possible to try using other materials? Could it be easier to use a toothbrush for the very fine fur texture?

Gesture

Today's drawing fundamental was fun, we get to draw human figures and try to capture their movement by drawing different poses and we had only about 2 mins to try and draw the pose out. The main thing for this exercise is to get the proportion right and the different gestures of the mannequin. Drawing mannequins is easy but I wonder if I can draw an actual human out in a short time. Do famous artist draw an actual human subjects in such a short time too? Or do they take a long time to complete their masterpiece?

Emoji

This is my picture for today, what I see in this picture is three monkeys with different facial expressions. It's so cute I wanted to get them all and when I look at it, it reminds me of the emoji of the three monkeys, The emoji where one money cover it's eyes, one cover it's mouth and the other one cover it's ears. I wonder if the person who design these toy monkey also came across the three monkey emojis?

Connection

For todays's Creative Thinking lesson, our topic was about forced connection. It is a way of describing the act of combining 2 or more unrelated things to express a new message. So for our class exercise we tried to create 6 drawings of objects with different emotions. So I pick a candle to be my object and drew it with different emotions such as passionate, sad, brave, creative, greedy and lastly hardworking. When drawing it out, some of the drawing can actually make a good design. Doing this exercise may give you great ideas, so I wonder is designers use this method to plan their ideas?

Perspective

For my picture of today I took a photo of what I've done for my assignment for drawing fundamentals. Drawing buildings in perspective is hard. But I'm really satisfied with my tracing of the buildings for this week's drawing lesson. Even though I traced the buildings in a transparent paper, it took me quite some time to complete the drawing. I wonder if architects design buildings by drawing like this?

Trials

So today what I listened from the priest during mass was about "God filled our lives with trials". So if we're not to be surprised when difficult things come to our lives, the implication is to be prepared. It made me wonder about one of the factors is to keep doing good, suffering can make us self absorbed, we might tend to think that no one's lot is as difficult as us. What are the other trials God filled our life with? How can we start doing good?

Fragrance

This is a picture of a perfume brand by Tom Ford. I like how they display their products in such an orderly manner, it makes it look so neat and chic. I found out that one bottle of these perfumes cost around $800. It is so shocking as I wonder how could a tiny bottle filled with liquid fragrance cost this much? The fragrance of the perfume is splendid but is buying something this expensive worth it?

Petite

This is a picture of one of my figurine. It is the type of figurine that you can change and detach their body to create different poses. It is really small and cute and it come in many different series. If I'm not wrong there are about 400 different characters for this type of figurines. This character is from my one of my favourite anime called love live. I wonder how they make figures like this? Is it possible to custom make it?

Sculpture

I was taking a walk around raffles place and I spotted this interesting sculpture. It appears to be a girl holding on to a magnifying glass. What I love about this sculpture, is the details on it. If you look closer at it, you can see the texture of the greenish area. I find that fascinating to look at, and the facial expression of it looks really cute too. I wonder if this sculpture comes in other colours or texture? Does this sculpture have other poses?

Creative

So I was walking around Pomo and I walked pass this store. At first when I looked at the items on display, I thought they were selling shoes and other accessories but these are actually CHOCOLATE. I find this really creative as they made chocolate out of everything like female shoes, Men shoes, screwdriver, crowbar, hammer and many other tools. I wonder how do they make these chocolate in such a realistic shape? I find that this would make a great gift for parties, especially for those chocolate lovers.

Spirals

This is my picture for my blog today, It is for next week class for creative thinking. We were given the theme of spirals in nature and we had to take photos that's related to that. So I took picture of a rose. I love the beauty of the the red rose. I heard that red roses represent love and trust. If you look closely inside a rose, you can actually see the spirals of the petals in pattern in a rotating order. When a rose bloom they actually bloom in a spiral too. So a rose is really fitting for this theme. I wonder if the rose is the only flower that have an obvious spiral?

Tarot

This are my Tarot cards collection. I do like the art style on the cards, these cards are specially associated by DC as each card have different justice league members. I do not know fortune telling but I do keep them because it seems so intriguing. It makes me wonder how fortune telling works? Is there a skill behind it? Or do fortune tellers just try to make things up? I don't really believe in fortune telling but sometimes I am interested in knowing my future.

Talent

So yesterday I went to the convention called STGCC, for today I will be posting about my favourite artist called SakimiChan. She is a really famous digital artist from Canada. I still couldn't believe that she was a special guest for this event because she hardly come to Asia to sell her artwork. However it was really great meeting her as I really support her art works.

So this is one of her art piece that I bought, what I like about her artwork is that she draws gender-bent characters. This is a male version of the Disney's 101 Dalmatians character, Cruella De Vil.

Convention

Today I went for STGCC, it is an event that has all the games, toys, comic and cosplayers there. This convention is kind of like America's Comic Con but it's smaller. As you can see in the picture, it is pretty crowded but the crowd is worse inside. There are a lot of interesting cosplayers this year, I can see how enthusiastic the cosplayers are. Especially the Deadpool maid striking the perfect pose for me to take.:D

Adorable

This is a photo of a dessert that I tried at Pompompurin Cafe. I see a really cute decorated dessert, it is as cute as a puppy. Well no pun intended as this character is actually a puppy. They used chocolate to draw it's face and hat. I went with my friend who is a huge Pompompurin fan. If you look at the menu, most of the food are decorated this cutely. It's a little pricey but it was worth coming here.

Planar

This is my picture for today, I was given an assignment to take pictures of planar structure in architect for my 3d class. So this picture was taken from Gardens by the Bay. Why did they build this in Gardens by the Bay? I did not really take a closer look at it to see what it is, but I think this architect is some stage? Or maybe just a nice shady place to stay away from the scorching sun.

Dozy

In this photo is a sleeping hamster that I randomly took photo at some pet store. This hamster in this photo is just too adorable sleeping! Sleepiness always gets to me just like this hamster. Looking at this hamster being so carefree, not having any stress and just taking a nap all day. It make me wonder why can't I be sleeping like this too rather than having so much stress from school.:/

Lines

This is some sculpture in Marina Bay Sands hotel. It is quite unique because of the different types to lines they used. This sculpture actually looks like a hairball from far. The sculpture is really big because you can see those tiny people below the it. How long does the artist take to design this? How did they fit the it in such a narrow space?

Experimental

This photo is just and experimental shot, I went to use my phone torch light and spun it in circles to create this light movement in this picture. To capture the light perfectly I have to do this in a car park, where it's darker there. Its amazing how the camera shot can capture this movement. I love the way the light pattern came out, the shape of it kind of look like a seashell.

Luster

This is the Merlion statue at Sentosa. It is actually prettier in the morning because at night I find it scarier with the colourful light glowing around it. The photo angle from here can't really see it but when it's eyes glow it makes the statue look really scary. But I do like how the merlion's light around it changes the colours. This statue is enormous, imagine if there is an actual real life merlion that's this big? It would probably be as big as a Godzilla!

Fluffy

This picture was taken at a book shop at Bras Basah that have a cat in their store. It's fur is so fluffy and smooth. Doesn't it make you wanna pet it? Or maybe even stealing it home? I guess it's just probably me that wants to bring it home. If I could have a pet, I would choose to have a cat first because they are just as loyal as dogs just that they just don't want to show it. I wonder what the cat is looking at in this picture? I think it's probably looking at the cat toy on the table at the right side.

Home

I realise most of my post is animals, and where do I get this photos? Most of them are at the pet store. I often visit the pet store not because I have a pet but because I really want to see the animals in there. I guess this shows my love for animals. For this picture I see a hamster being cozy in it's tiny home. It makes me wonder many questions. Does the hamster feel warm in such a tiny home? Does it like being stared at all day?
